I Once Felt Exhausted Musically – Nigerian Singer, Burna Boy

Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion singer, admits to feeling musically fatigued at times.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the megastar admitted to struggling with creative stagnation.

Burna Boy, however, stated that late Indian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala was a source of inspiration at the time, adding that he “brought another angle to my musicality.”

“Me and Sidhu already recorded four songs. We were doing a mixtape so that was what we were working on. I am really just glad I have a heart-to-heart with his parents,” he said.

“Believe it or not he is like one of the biggest inspirations I had at a time when I felt like I have already musically done it all. I felt like I had exhausted myself musically in my head because I was listening to everything and nothing was making sense to me.

“I felt like I had already spoken about everything. I already said everything. But Sidhu brought another angle to my musicality. He is a legend. The legend of Punjab. There will never be another one.”

Moose Wala was murdered during a shooting in May 2022.

‘Mera Na’, his posthumous song featuring Burna Boy and Steel Banglez, the Bristish-Indian producer, was released on April 7.

Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, rose to prominence after releasing ‘Like to Party,’ the first song off his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).

After his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall (2020)’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammys in 2021, the artist established a record in Nigeria.

Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ was released on August 25th. In the 15-track project, he enlisted rappers J. Cole and Dave, as well as Nigerian vocalist Seyi Vibez.
