Hermes Chibueze Iyele, a 2022 BBNaija housemate, has spoken about how his mother’s absence affected him as a child.
On The Nancy Isime Show, the reality star discussed his childhood and connection with his mother.
He claimed that his father, who was driving a commercial bus in Lagos at the time, raised him and his siblings through school.
“One significant thing that I think affected me a lot was not having my mum around. So a lot of people really think that me looking for my mum was because she was so present in my life,” he said.
“She was absent my entire life, my entire life was longing to have her around. I would be in school and see people’s mum come for PTA and I will feel like oh my God, my mum is so pretty, if she came here I would have so many friends.

“It never happened, the silver lining for me is my dad. I have so much love to give because of him.
“An argument happened during the Big Brother show, I think someone said men could not take care of children as much as women could.
“I felt really attacked by that because my dad raised me and he did a really good job. He took care of really young kids, he was running a commercial bus in Lagos, and he trained us through school, it was a lot.
“And despite that pain, he never once made us feel like my mum is less, he would always complain but at the end, he would say you cannot hate your mum, you must love her.”
