Gunmen stormed the Ozochi community in the Ahoada LGA of Rivers State on Saturday night, killing eight people during their reign of terror.
According to Punch, the gunmen shot sporadically, destroying property and setting shops and houses ablaze.
Britain Ewor, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, confirmed the incident while urging those involved to stay away from his community.
Local Government in the area are set to hold a prayer meeting to seek God’s intervention in the recent scourge of killings currently affecting communities across the state.
An investigation into the matter is currently underway, with security operatives assuring fearful citizens that the culprits of the attack will be brought to book, the Nigerian Tribune reports.
