Grimes, a musician and former Elon Musk companion, has filed a “petition to establish parental relationship” in a California court, attempting to formally identify their three children’s unmarried parents.
The court records are sealed, and no requests for child support or custody rights were made in the petitions.
Grimes and Musk started dating in 2018 and had an on-again, off-again relationship until their divorce in September 2021.
They have a boy named X A-Xii, born in May 2020, and a daughter named Exa Dark Siderael, delivered via surrogate in December 2021.
It was announced in September that they had quietly had a third kid, a boy named Techno Mechanicus, fondly known as Tau.
Grimes filed the case after publicly requesting to see their son on Twitter and communicating with Musk’s former girlfriend Shivon Zilis to “de-escalate” the issue.
Musk and Zilis, who had twins Strider and Azure, welcomed their children in secret in November 2021, following Musk’s divorce from Grimes. However, news of their twins was not made public for several months.
