If someone just work up to you and offered you 10 million shillings to have sex with our spouse overnight, what would our answer be? Would we consider the love we have for them and turn down the amount? As long as that question is hypothetical, research finds that about 70% of us will swear ourselves up and down that we would never even consider it, not even if the amount was 10 billion. But if that 10 million were actually handed over, in cold hard cash, that number swearing up and down would drop drastically.
Well, how about that. But that is what it is. The truth is that money is so important in our love lives, and sometimes even more preferable to it, as some more of these tidbits about money and love reveal.
1. Source of Discord.
Nothing is a greater source of discord in marriage than money, especially, mysteriously in the first and third years of marriage. It is hard to imagine what the couple argues about in the second year, but it isn’t money. Also, money matters account for just over half of all divorces.
It is not the lack of money that is the problem however, rather it is the failure of effective communication around it, and the lack of shared values towards it.
2. Money Turns Women On.
Give a woman choice between a good romp and 50,000 shillings and her choice is simple and quick, the money. Ask her what she thinks more essential to her marriage, money or good sex, and money trumps all once again.
It also makes sex more enjoyable for women, and it makes them more adventurous in bed too. A 2009 study found that the higher a man’s income increased, the more frequent were his woman’s orgasms.
3. Money can Buy Love
It seems immoral just to even think it, but it is true. A study done in Britain found that the higher a man’s income was, the more likely it was that he had found love at least more than once. Not only that, but a higher income also increased the frequency of sex a man got, and that this increased sex felt like having more money.
On the flip side however, higher income for a woman limits her chances of finding a mate. If she chooses to get a man who earns at least as much as she does, up to 60% of men are automatically eliminated from the race, and this is before she considers other important qualities. And then the relationship has greater chance of failure.
4. Money Trumps Love
Given a choice between being rich and finding the love of their lives, 92% will choose riches. It is safer to be rich than to be uncertainly in love. True love is something we can truly and safely appreciate only in hindsight. And then, we could always buy love with our money.
And lastly, as to whether money can buy happiness. Well, kind of. Research tells that money will make you less sad, but not happier. That means that if you were stuck in a Benz with an old, ugly and arrogant but rich man, you’d be less sad, but not necessarily happier.
