Form Four Pupil From Simotwe High School Beaten By Teachers

Elgeyo Marakwet – A Form Four Pupil hailing from Simotwe High School was severely beaten by his teachers resulting in him having to be admitted into hospital, reports Standard Media.

But instead of taking him to a legal clinic Anil Kimelu was taken to a backstreet clinic in the parameter of Eldoret town in a way to cover up the assault.

Kimelu was rescued by his father who later took his son to Eldama Ravine Hospital.

It is reported that the battered pupil along with his 56 classmates were instructed to stand outside in the intense heat while they were whipped with Cyprus twigs.

“They ordered all the students to lie on the ground for about ten minutes us other teachers rushed to the bush to collect dozens of sticks. Some of us thought we were going to die and really pleaded with them to spare us,” cried the boy.

After the severe beatings seventeen of his classmates along with Kimueli had to be taken for medical care but landed up being taken to a back ally clinic.

The ‘clinic’ turned out to belong to the home of an implicated teachers brother.  pleaded with Kimueli’s father to not take this to media or the Ministry of Education.

The Deputy Principle, Silas Rono of the school pleaded with Kimueli’s father to keep it under wraps then proceeded to threatened the father for refusing to keep quiet.

“This is pure propaganda aimed at bringing our promising school down by dark forces. The issue at hand is not complicated to be addressed through the media,” Romo said.

Meanwhile the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Fred Matiang’i has released the 2015 KCSE results earlier this week.

In his speech at Mitihani House in Nairobi, Matiang’i revealed that cases of irregularities rose 70 per cent in 2015, leading to cancellation of results for 5 000 candidates.
