A student of Eldoret Technical Institute College has been jailed for one year each by a Narok court for being in illegal possession of bhang (cannabis sativa).
The student Patrick Kimutai had admitted being in illegal possession of four rolls of bhang worth sh800 on December last year in Narok town.
He appeared before Narok Chief magistrate Wilbroda Juma.
Also at the same court, a farmer Joseph Muriuki Githinji had admitted being in illegal possession of 2 kilograms of bhang.
He however denied another charge of illegally cultivating 14 plants of the bhang on his leased farm.
He denied committing the offence on March 7th this year at Kiru village in Narok North Sub County.
He denied the charges before Narok chief Magistrate Ms Wilbroda Juma and his case will now be heard on 10th May this year.
Meanwhile, Muriuki will continue to serve his one year jail term for the offence of illegal possession of the two kilograms of bhang.
In mitigation, the accussed caused a stir in court when he said he had other crops on the farm which will have no one to tend to them if he is jailed.
