Durban – New York businesswoman and fashionista, Buhle Mkhize, the woman feuding with Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba’s wife, Noma, has apologised for her conduct, saying she was “driven by ugly and bad decisions”.

Details of her apology are contained in a leaked email sent from Mkhize, who described herself as a fashionista, a buyer for high-end boutiques, and stylist for celebrity and private clients, to Noma on June 8.

In her email, Mkhize said she blamed herself for the ugly fight which eventually played out on social media last week, while the Gigabas were in Russia.

“I don’t even know what to say because I am such a big part of the negative that’s been going on in your life.

“You are truly a bigger and better woman than I could ever be. You probably have a lot to deal with at this time so I’ll wait to hear from you when you are ready to have any discussions about assisting The Sisterhood or any other thing.”

The Sisterhood is a non-profit women’s empowerment movement that is run by Mkhize.

The email continued to say, “I am sorry from the bottom of my heart for everything and I do understand and forgive where you may have been harsh, what’s happened is deep and no matter how strong you are inhliziyo (the heart) will cause you to lash out now and then.

“I’ll keep you in my prayers, please do the same for me. You’ve done nothing to me but I’ve been driven to ugly and bad decisions because I’m a complete idiot. I am very sorry that I’ve worked against my own beliefs, hope you’ll one day forgive me.”

The Gigabas got married in a lavish wedding at the Durban Botanical Gardens in August 2014. They were unavailable for comment.

‘Demands’

News24 exclusively revealed on Wednesday that Mkhize, who is originally from Eshowe, allegedly “made certain demands” on Noma. News24 spoke to several sources close to the couple who said that Noma then told Mkhize “where to get off”.

Mkhize denied the claims.

An ugly catfight between the two women played out on Instagram last week.

It was reported that Noma sent Mkhize a message on Instagram apparently calling Mkhize a prostitute.

“Miss photoshop and a lot of makeup awuve ufake [you are fake]. Go to hell, prostitute, tell the world, I am not shaken, loser, you have been doing this since last year,” reportedly read one of the messages.

In an interview with News24 Mkhize admitted that she apologised to Noma.

“I have apologised for what I felt was my input in this situation… she’d mocked me and said I’m sucking up to her and then continued to insult me directly and to anyone willing to listen.

“The screengrab from her communication with my friend and mutual friend is all I have as written proof of what she’s said of me.

“I however believe word of mouth too is based on what she’s said to me directly. This very recent argument was started by me trying to reason with her and asking her to please stop dragging my name through the mud and for us to make peace and move forward,” said Mkhize.
