The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested a former lawyer within President Muhammadu Buhari’s counsel over an alleged election scandal amounting to N23.29 billion.

According to Naij, Mike Ahamba (SAN) was arrested alongside Chairman of the Cross Rivers State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ntufam John Okon, as well as Senator Chris Anyanwu, who are all alleged to have ties to a case of poll bribery.

Reports have indicated that the trio received N1.2 billion on the directive of former Fidelity Bank boss Nnamdi Okonkwo.

In addition, both Ahamba and Anyanwu are said to have received N700 million each while Okon is said to have pocketed N500 million for himself.

The EFCC has since invited officials from the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for questioning regarding the case.
