The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has condemned in strong terms the continued repugnant terrorist attacks in Nigeria with the recent being on a mosque in Umarari Village, near Maiduguri, Borno State, which left 22 people dead and 18 injured.
These deplorable acts against humanity continue to be of deep concern to the International Community in the fight against terrorism,a statement from the Commission in Abuja said.
The regional bloc, however, reaffirmed its support to Nigeria in her effort in stemming the violent terrorist attacks and bringing perpetrators to justice.
The Commission is committed,in Nigeria and in all Member States, to the creation of a broad anti-terrorism front aimed at eradicating the root causes,the statement further said.
ECOWAS expressed its deepest condolences to the victims and their families as well as to the people and Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,adding that it remains in total solidarity in the fight against terrorism.
