A trado-medical doctor has been arrested over the alleged molestation of a patient after “examining” her and forcing her to have sex with him.
According to a Naij report, the victim, Funmilayo, claimed that he was violated by the doctor after approaching him for help with an ulcer.
The doctor, an employee of Damola Healthcare, is alleged to have tricked his patient into believing that she had a womb infection and that urgent treatment was needed.
Funmilayo relayed how she arrived at the hospital and was asked to expose her private parts to the man so that he could proceed with a pelvic examination.
In the minutes that followed, the doctor stated that he would be inserting a rubber tool into the patient’s vagina in order to aid the examination.
When the alleged insertion went on for several minutes, Funmilayo looked up to discover that the doctor had inserted his penis into her and did not stop, despite her screams.
Funmilayo discovered that she was pregnant shortly after the incident. The doctor requested that she have an abortion in return.
Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, coordinator at the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), has taken on the case, while urging female patients to ensure that male doctors have female assistants with them in the room when examinations are performed.
“It must be emphasised that women must ensure that a female nurse is in the examination room whenever their private parts are to be examined by a male doctor. If that was done in this case, such sexual assault would not have taken place,” she noted, according to Punch.
