Defence Corps Explore Partnerships With Russia

Abuja – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is seeking to strengthen bilateral relations with the Russia Ministry of Civil Defence (EMERCOM).

Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, the Corps Commandant said this after a courtesy visit to the Russian Embassy in Abuja to request technical assistance and explore areas of mutual cooperation.

He there is a strong need to request for mutual cooperation with EMERCOM as the Corps is in need of operational equipment that will enable the NSCDC carry out its duties effectively.

“We are delighted to seek bilateral relations with EMERCOM as the facilities needed will boost our efforts in the discharge of our duties and will greatly enhance our personnel human capacity,” said Muhammadu.

He said the technical assistance would lead to the provision of facilities that will really aid in disaster management.

Ambassador Extraordinary, Nikolay Udovichenko, called for the augmentation of the existing mutual relationship between Nigeria and Russia.

He also pledged his country’s readiness to assist in the training of the NSCDC officers.
