Coronavirus: Ghanaian Pastor Brian Amoateng Under Fire For Saying “It’s Not The Responsibility Of The Church To Buy Hand Sanitizers For Members”

Some Ghanaian celebrities have taken to social media to express their disappointment at Pastor Brian Amoateng for what they describe as insensitive comments.

The founder of Brian Jones Outreach Ministries, Brian Amoateng, said it’s not the responsibility of the church to provide free hand sanitizers to its members during this Coronavirus pandemic, rather, it’s the government of Ghana.

“And let me tell you, it’s not the responsibility of the church to buy hand sanitizers for you because you give offering. It is not. You give offering to God to receive a blessing. It’s not compulsory that the church has to bring you hand sanitizers,” he said in a live video on his Facebook page.

Brian continued: “The bible says that God loves a cheerful giver. It should be out of a cheerful heart. You shouldn’t give to the church and expect favour in return.”

Joining the conversation on social media, some Ghanaian celebrities like Efia Odo, Eddie Nartey, Mzbel, Sister Deborah, Salma Mumin, Jasmine Baroudi, rapper Edem and others have called him out, stating that Coronavirus has exposed all the greedy and fake pastors in Ghana.

Eddie Nartey wrote, “Nkwasiaaaaaasem! You give money to God. Is God standing at the church receiving that money??? even my unborn child knows that money is for you!!! If you can’t help humanity in these trying times, then just SHUT UP!!!”

“Christians give offering and as he said, to receive a blessing, so why can’t the blessing be in the form of preventive materials like sanitizers especially in these #covid_19 times? Jesus Christ would’ve never asked us to buy our own sanitizers. This is far from Christ-like behaviour. This is disgusting. He should be ashamed of himself,” Sister Deborah also wrote under Salma Mumin’s post.

A disappointed Jasmine Baroudi had a question for the pastor. “We give to God u say, have u seen God before? Or when you collect the offering do u personally go to heaven and give God the money!!! GERRARAHERE,” she said.

‘I am 16 years’ hitmaker believes the man of God is a fraudster. “Man of God or man of money? Fraudsters and charlatans”.

Pastor Brian’s apology

After being back-lashed, the Pastor has apologized to all Ghanaians, according to him, his comments have been misconstrued.
