Cops Confesses Receiving Bribes, Asks Panel For Forgiveness.

A senior police officer shocked a vetting panel after he confessed that he has been taking bribes from motorists.

Sergeant Leonard Iloke Masika pleaded guilty to Police vetting panel led by Johnstone Kavuludi on Tuesday that he has been a conduit of corruption proceeds but asked for forgiveness.

“I am a sinner, forgive me as your son, I will never repeat. I will be honest and do my work diligently. I have three children who depend on me,” Masika said.

The officer had been put to task over Mpesa transactions worth millions of shillings he did when he served as a senior traffic cop at the Coast region.

He blamed his bosses over the money he used to solicit as bribes.

“When the lorries belonging to Hakika Transporters, and other vehicles were impounded for breaking traffic rules, Mr Kariuki used to call, asking me to help them, I would then send him the money via M-Pesa and keep Sh1000,” he added.

The officer was lucky as Mr Kavuludi told the officer to go back and work diligently.
