Lagos – Members of the church founded by Reverend King have said witches and wizards are responsible for the death sentence handed over to their leader.
Chukwuemeka Ezeugo aka Reverend King who is the General overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly (CPA) was sentenced to death in 2007 for the burning to death of a member of his church in 2006.
He however appealed the judgment and lost before the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence on Friday.
One of the pastors of the church, Ifeanyi King, on Sunday during the church’s service, said the death sentence of their leader is the handiwork of witches and wizards. The clergy added that the sentenced leader will not die but return to the church.
Ezeugo was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.
