Business activities in Garbatulla town in isiolo County have been immobilized following a power blackout that has been there for one week.
A former chairman of the defunct Isiolo County Council, Hajj Boru Dida said that the blackout had paralyzed businesses and forced women to fetch water from distant dams since water could not be pumped from boreholes without electricity.
Dida said following the blackout, services at public offices were badly affected while private business people whose businesses depend on electricity continue to count losses.
The former council boss appealed to Kenya Power Company to rectify the anomaly and save the residents from further suffering.
Garbatulla Deputy County Commissioner, Kipchumba Rutto said that public were suffering due to poor management by Maua station staffs who were complaining of not being paid their allowances whenever they went for emergency services in the Sub-County.
Rutto called upon the residents to be patient as the power company had promised to deal with the issue soonest.
Isiolo Kenya Power area manager, Roba Wario confirmed the blackout but said a team from Meru Region was addressing the problem.
