Babu Owino Spends A Night In Police Cells.

University of Nairobi (UoN) student leader, Babu Owino spent last night in the cold cells of Kilimani Police station.

Owino was arrested Wednesday night for assault.

According to The Star, the students’ leader assaulted Mike Jacobs at a fuel station in Kileleshwa in March.

Jacobs was his main challenger in the elections held in April.

Owino however emerged the winner after allegedly rigging the election, prompting the supporters of Jacobs to riot.

The university maintained that Owino was elected in a free and fair manner, and suspended Jacobs alongside 32 other students who allegedly participated in the riots.

Owino has been at the helm of the Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) leadership since 2011.
