Durban – A Durban man who allegedly stole a sought after African Grey parrot will appear at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Debishand Prakash has been out on R1 000 bail.
CCTV footage circulated on social media after the theft showed three people – a man, a young boy and a woman – who walked into Julie’s Pet Shop at the Gateway shopping centre and stole the bird.
The woman appeared to be distracting the shop assistant.
The parrot has since been returned to the shop unharmed. His owner, Hawa Deedat, said the bird is valued at around R4 500.
