‘Africa Has Lost A legend’ – Tributes Pour In For DJ Arafat Who Died In Road Crash

Tributes have begun to pour in for Ange Didier Huon, Ivorian disc jockey and singer, who lost his life in a motorbike accident.

According to the state broadcaster RTI, the award-winning singer fractured his skull after a collision between his motorcycle and a car on Sunday in Abidjan. He was admitted into a hospital in the city.

The 33-year-old died in the early hours of Monday.

Celebrities and fans alike have taken to Twitter to pay their last respects to the “King of Coupé-Décalé”, a music genre he created.

“RIP DJ Arafat. Africa has lost a legend,” said Yemi Alade.

“RIP yorobo, I love you,” said Davido.

“Where do you start on DJ Arafat’s impact on Ivorian music and African pop culture? From the sound, to the dance-steps, to the use of social media, to how he deeply connected with the masses. But first of all, is he really dead? I’m in denial,” a Twitter user wrote.
