Abuja – The Igbo socio-cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the pan-Yoruba socio-political body, Afenifere have actually faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s placement in claiming that the unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.
News24 Nigeria reported that President Buhari insisted that Nigeria’s unity was not negotiable after the Niger Delta Avengers struck again, blowing up the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC pipeline at Eleme, Rivers State.
He also urged any looters of the nation’s treasury to return funds stolen for peace to reign in the country, saying that the Federal Government would not stop until all the funds were returned.
The organisations however disagreed with Buhari’s statements, saying that the unity of Nigeria was indeed negotiable.
Afenifere stated that President Buhari might not be totally in tune with the current mood of the country saying that the nation was more divided than ever before under Buhari with many factions feeling victimised by the Buhari administration.
Ohanaeze also added that the country’s unity should be subjected to a periodic review to prevent continuous agitations for a separation in certain parts of Nigeria.
