Kenya: Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University Student In Court Over Stolen Sh33 Million

A third year university student has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he allegedly stole a whopping Sh33 million from his employer.

Jack Ouma Omollo, a student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University was arraigned in a Bondo court on Friday where he was charged with “stealing by servant, contrary to section 281 of the penal code.”

Principal Magistrate Moses Obiero heard that the 32-year-old on separate dates between March, 2015 and September, 2016 in Bondo stole Sh33 million property from his employer Alicia Bakers and Confection limited.

According to the court papers, Mr Omollo who was a sales administrator at the company, was allegedly in cahoots with other individuals who skipped the court session.

A report by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that the student had more than Sh20 Million in his personal bank account.

Omollo pleaded no guilty to the charges but Magistrate Obiero denied him bail setting the next hearing date on October 24, 2016.

Jaramongi Oginga Odinga University students crowded the court threatening to cause chaos after he was denied bail.
