The Joint select parliamentary committee on IEBC wants the commissioners to leave office by September 30.

This will make sure that a new team takes office early enough to prepare for the 2017 general elections, The Star reports.

The committee has so far agreed that the IEBC commissioners be reduced from 9 to 7, serving on full term basis.

The Joint Select parliamentary committee was formed to investigate integrity issues facing the current IEBC commissioners, following pressure from opposition and civil society.

However, after weeks of deliberations and probe, Capital News reports that the House team did not find any wrongdoing on the part of the current commissioners.
