Lagos – The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) appears to have actually gone spiritual to retaliate the claimed death of members that were killed by security operatives during the May 30 remembrance day for Biafra fallen heroes.
The group in a statemeprotest biafrant by its deputy leader, Uche Mefor warned that the spirit of the dead victims of alleged state killings in Igbo land had been invoked to haunt their killers and accomplices with afflictions, Vanguard reports.
Mefor said: “The souls and spirits of 140 unarmed, defenceless, non-violent and innocent citizens of Nigeria of southeast and south-south extractions, mostly composed of Igbo sons and a number of Igbo daughters between the ages of 20 and 35 years, who were brutally massacred in broad day light on May 30, 2016 have been invoked to eternally go after their killers and enemies of the Igbo nation as well as those who aided and abetted the gruesome massacre until they pay for their heinous crimes and atrocities committed.
The IPOB leader said other pro-Briafra agitators who were killed in other nonviolent protests, including Igbos killed by Fulani herdsmen have also been summoned to avenge the killings.
News24 earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari is looking at setting up a presidential committee to look into pro-Biafra groups, in the face of a growing agitation to recognise Biafra as a sovereign state.
Buhari ordered the committee to take a particular look into the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
