Ukpai Ukairo, who was abducted on Thursday night alongside the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, is said to have been returning home with his driver and personal assistant when the abduction unfolded.
The victims are said to have regained their freedom on Friday morning, however, when the kidnappers left their alone while running errands, giving them enough time to escape before their assailants returned, Authority reports.
ASP Ogbannaya Nta, spokesman for the Abia State command, confirmed the incident while stating that the two suspects involved in the kidnapping have since been arrested.
