Locals at Ntimaru town Kuria East sub-county in Migori county are living in fear over the increasing wave of insecurity.
Five people died during the latest incident. Four robbers one with AK47 robbed a shopkeeper at least KES 20000 and several phones.
They then turned on his wife to demand for more cash.
In his attempt to plead with robber Mr Joseph Mwita was shot dead on the spot whereas his wife was shot at the back.
Kuria OCPD Mr Patrick Lobolia said others were shot outside the shop as the robbers fled.
They are suspected to have crossed over to Tanzania.
The locals now want security beefed up in the area to enable them carry out their activities without fear.
