The Raila Odinga led CORD coalition has suffered a blow after a KANU MP they had included in their team to dialogue with Jubilee over the IEBC stalemate pulled out.
Mogotio MP, Hellen Sambili Thursday withdrew from the team under unclear circumstances, a day after being announced to be among the seven legislators who will represent the opposition in the talks.
CORD on Tuesday announced the inclusion of Prof Sambili and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior to its earlier team of five leaders who were to lead the coalition in the dialogue process.
The five included; Senators James Orengo (Siaya) and Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) and MPs Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Simiyu Eseli (Tongaren).
The planned dialogue between Jubilee and Cord on the IEBC stalemate may delay further following Sambili’s withdral from the select team on Thursday.
Junet Friday confirmed Sambili’s withdrawal, pointing out that her name was not among those that had been forwarded to Raila Odinga and his fellow Cord co-principals.
“We don’t know why she has withdrawn because her name was forwarded to Cord by her party on the request of her secretary general Nick Salat,” explained Junet, who added that the opposition will find her replacement.
