CORD Leaders Appeal To Squash Vandalism Case Rejected

Two CORD leaders are to appear in court to contest a case of vandalism after being accused of setting alight a vehicle during their latest protest against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) two weeks ago.

According to Citizen TV Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula are being held responsible for torching Agnes Wacera Macharia vehicle.

However the CORD leaders have accused the court of abuse of power saying that individuals should be held accountable and not the coalition leaders.

Furthermore they held the court has no jurisdiction over the matter.

The High Court in response rejected the notion and adjourned the matter to be heard on June 29th.

Meanwhile CORD announced that they would be postponing the planned Machakos prayer rally for later in the week.

The Star reported that the postponement is to allow the legislators who were detained for four days to have a break.

Therefore they said all anti-IEBC protests will be announced on Monday.
