An ODM Senator says he regrets supporting CORD leader Raila Odinga and that he will move to the Jubilee Coalition for the 2017 elections.
Taita Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo says he will use the Jubilee Coalition to seek re-election come 2017 and that joining CORD was the worst mistake he has ever made.
Mwazo told News24 on phone that he would jump ship come the next polls.
” I will join Jubilee. I have to say I regret supporting Raila,” he stated categorically.
He added that CORD has been no use to the people of his region who he says were better off in the government.
” Our leadership in the opposition is flawed and has done little to help aid the people I represent,” he added.
In a rejoinder though, Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar said that the coalition would not sweat over members who have chosen a different path.
” There is no issue. If a person wishes to leave he or she will face the public in the polls and a decision will be made. As we have seen in the past, it is not a good idea to go against the tide,” he stated.
CORD has been faced with a number of defections in the Coastal region in the past, with a number of MPs having shifted allegiance to the Jubilee Coalition.
