Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has been accused of plotting to divide the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities following his remarks that deputy president William Ruto is not guaranteed of support from the Kikuyu community in the 2022 general election.

Led by Nakuru based businessman Zakayo Maina, the elders said that Kabogo is not the spokesman of Mt Kenya and therefore his sentiments should be treated as personal.
Speaking Thursday in Nakuru town, Maina called on Kabogo to stop misleading Kalenjins and Kikuyus with the aim of achieving his selfish political interests.
“What Kabogo said should be treated as personal opinion; it does not represent the position of the Kikuyu community in Mount Kenya and Rift Valley,” said Maina.
“Kabogo should not divide the two communities because the agreement between Uhuru and Ruto still stands. The Kikuyu community will support Ruto in 2022,” he added.
The elders also told Kabogo to stop dragging deputy President William Ruto into his political rivalry.
“Kabogo knows that he is facing a bleak political future and that is why he is trying to drag the name of the DP into his woes to try and see if he can survive but we are telling him that he should be prepared for any eventuality because we are not even sure he will get the nomination to run for governorship in next year’s polls,” said Maina.
