A chief in Isiolo County has been arrested for allegedly abetting cattle rustling and soliciting money from victims to help them recover stolen livestock.

Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Mwachaunga Chaunga said Lenguruma chief, William Lerosion was taken to custody at Isiolo police station for allegedly soliciting KES.10,000 from victims of cattle rustling.

Chaunga said the administrator will be interdicted if found guilty after further investigations.

He said more than 10 camels belonging to Somali herders were stolen last week in Burat village by suspected Samburu rustlers, but the chief failed to arrest the culprits and to recover all the animals.
