A CORD Governor is under the spotlight for missing the opposition Madaraka Day rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
Wycliffe Oparanya of Kakamega has been thrashed for snubbing the rally and in the process not showing Coalition leader Raila Odinga the support he deserves.
Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, who has had a run in with Oparanya on a number of occasions says that the Governor let down his leader by missing out on the rally.
” He has let down his party and coalition by not coming to support the quest to change the nation,” he said.
He accused Oparanya of singing to a government tune by missing the rally.
” There was a clear choice. To sing the tune of the government or seek an agenda changing solution,” he added.
Oparanya on the other hand stated that he had a duty to be there for the sake of his people.
” As Governor I am mandated to be at the Madaraka Day Celebrations with my people,” he said simply.
Khalwale is said to be eyeing Oparanya’s seat come the 2017 polls
