CORD’s Parallel Madaraka Day Fete Amounts To Treason

Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said that the plans by CORD to hold parallel celebrations for the Madaraka day should be treated as treason.

Mbugua said that CORD should not be taken lightly on that issue because holding the parallel celebration amounts to usurping the powers of a sitting President and serving government.

Speaking in Nakuru Mbugua said that Kenya has only one government and one President who is mandated to lead national day celebrations and any outfit purporting to challenge that should face the law.

“It’s the President who leads national day celebrations and that cannot be usurped,” said Mbugua.

“It’s treasonous for anyone to think that he can hold a parallel national day celebration because that will be like trying to overthrow a sitting President,” he added.

“We should not even be thinking, let alone talking about that because that is serious treason,” he said.
