It has emerged that Water Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa owes the government over KES 6 million in tax arrears.
Documents presented to court by the Kenya Revenue Authority Wednesday show that the Cabinet Secretary owes the state KES 6.5 duty for his Range Rover.
The vehicle was seized last week in a tax evasion sting after it was found with a fake number plate, which according to Standard belongs to a truck.
However, reports by Citizen Digital indicate that Wamalwa had purchased the vehicle from Grace Wambui who has already sues the taxman for not giving them enough time to comply with an inspection directive issued earlier this month.
Wamalwa’s Personal assistant who surrendered the vehicle to KRA has maintained that the CS is innocent as information available at the time of transferring ownership of the vehicle indicated that it had been cleared.
KRA now wants the petition dropped so it could collect the unpaid duty from the petitioners.
