Former Abia State Governor Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has claimed that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is more likely to be favourable to the Igbo nation than previous Governments.
Speaking during an interview with Sun News Online, Kalu broke down his assessment, while giving his commentary on various other topics of national importance.
When asked about the challenges facing the current administration, Kalu stated that President Buhari should think seriously about the threat of Fulani herdsmen that is facing the country.
In addition, Kalu claimed that the beating and killing on allegedly innocent Igbo men must come to an end, with the businessman claiming that the Igbo nation has suffered enough at the hands of those in power.
Citing Somalia and Afghanistan in his assessment, Kalu claimed that the victimization of Igbos should be “nipped in the bud”, lest Nigeria ends up like the two aforementioned nations.
When questioned whether or not former President Goodluck Jonathan should appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Kalu gave an emphatic yes, while claiming that nobody owns the country and that Igbos are part and parcel of Nigeria.
“Nobody owns the country. When I see some of my Igbo brothers say we don’t own the country, I laugh because we are part and parcel of this country. I don’t feel in any way, as a second class citizen because my people, the Igbo are part and parcel of this country; we are trustees of the dream, we are part of the dream,” Kalu stated.
Kalu’s sentiments come just a few days after he accused the Federal Government of squandering their state’s funds on personal luxuries.
According to a Vanguard report, the former Governor lambasted Government officials, calling them out for being the reason behind the late payment of worker’s salaries.
