Vice Chancellor- UNIPORT Protest Killings, A Plot To Sack Me.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Ndowa Lale, has claimed that the protest carried out by students in recent days is a part of a plot to have him removed from his position.

According to a Punch report, Lale made his claim on Tuesday, explaining that suspects that the protest was not “ordinary”, but saying instead that the strike action may have been sponsored.

“I understand that some of them (protesters) are in touch with some other people who for whatever reasons want me, the VC, out of office.  Therefore, they think that if they do this protest that the vice-chancellor would be removed from office,” he said.

The VC has stated that the protest has nothing to do with tuition fees, but was instead started by opportunists looking to be certified without having to write examinations.

Lale has since argued that “No Fees, No Exam” was not a strange concept, as, according to him, “nobody goes to school without payment”.

Students had demonstrated at the institution against the “No Fees, No Exam” policy, resulting in the death of one student.
