Police in Rivers State have arrested a woman for allegedly kidnapping her children and demanding a ransom from her husband in exchange for their safe return.
According to a Punch report, the suspect, identified as Abigail Brown, is alleged to have colluded with her husband’s former driver, identified only as ThankGod, in abducting the two children and demanding a ransom from her husband as a result.
Despite initially denying the allegations against her, Abigail eventually admitted that the act was not intentional and that the incident only came as a result of frustration, due to her husband abandoning her and her children.
Brown is said to have abducted the kids, aged 2 and 10, and kept them at her sister’s house while she awaited the ransom to be delivered.
The suspect allegedly demanded N6 million from her husband in order to secure the release of his children.
“I did not demand up to that amount, but I demanded money from my husband.”
“I only did it to make him bring money for me to take care of the children we had together,” said Abigail.
