Discord In CORD Over The Party’s Flag Bearer For The 2017 Presidential Polls

Storm is brewing in opposition, CORD regarding the coalition’s flag bearer for the upcoming presidential polls scheduled for August 2017.

All the three co-principals, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula want to be in the ballot.

Moses Wetang’ula, the leader of Ford Kenya party, already launched his presidential bid. Raila Odinga did not attend the launch which was marred with chaos last month, sparking fears of a split in the country’s main opposition coalition.

Wiper loyalists on the other hand have maintained that Kalonzo is the right person to vie for the post, with Daily Nation adding that Ukambani leaders have vowed to support no other candidate but Kalonzo.

According to the 2013 pre-election pact, Raila Odinga was to run for one term and then step down for Kalonzo, a pact that no longer seems to hold water after reportsemerged that Raila’s ODM party has already trashed the MoU.

According to Standard, ODM governors and MPs are backing Raila for President and accused Jubilee government of working hard to split western Kenya votes and get an easy win next year.
