A jubilee coalition MP has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to eradicate corruption in order to increase his popularity ahead of 2017 general elections.
Kieni MP Kanini Kega said ending graft in the country will not only improve economy but also raise the popularity of Jubilee government.
Speaking in his Kieni constituency on Tuesday during the burial of Godfrey Mwangi, 35, Kega said corruption will have no space in this country in future.
“If the President has done his part by ensuring those implicated in graft leaves office, let other institutions like judiciary, Police and Office of the DPP do their work and join hands with the President,” he added.
He said the recent opinion polls by Infotrack which showed Kenyatta popularity at 45 percent and Cord leader Raila Odinga with 28 percent cannot be disputed.
“The opposition should not continue castigating those who carried out the survey whenever it shows they are losing. The CORD is losing since it doesn’t have good players. If one is defeated in a match, don’t change the referee, change the players,” he added.
According to the recent survey by Infotrak, Kenyatta was the preferred candidate for 45 percent of those interviewed followed by CORD leader Raila odinga with 28 percent.
