A major consignment of ivory worth Sh6.4 million destined for Thailand was seized on Tuesday by authorities at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
According to Capital FM the package was on route from Mozambique.
This is in light of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) planning to embark on a huge burn up of the largest stockpile of illegal elephant and rhino ivory in April.
President Uhuru Kenyatta set fire in March 2015 to a giant pile of 15 tons of elephant ivory, which conservationists said then was the largest ever burned in Africa, and pledged to destroy the rest by the end of that year.
The promised destruction of the remaining stockpile is now slated for April 29 and 30
