A new survey by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has revealed the most and least corrupt government ministries.
The Interior ministry topped the list of most corrupt at 40.3 per cent, followed by Health (14.3 per cent) and Land (11 per cent) while Agriculture emerged as the least corrupt docket at 2.4 per cent.
The survey, conducted in 2015 also established that though the Kenya Police Service was ranking as the most corrupt government department, the numbers had gone down from 48 per cent in 2012 to 32.9 per cent.
In terms of counties, Daily Nation reports that Murang’a leads with a mean of 3.78 per cent, followed by Embu and Bomet at 2.53 per cent and 2.46 per cent respectively.
This report was launched just a day after the Infotrak survey showing that Kenyans were fed up with corrupt government officials.
In the survey, corruption, unemployment and high cost of living were cited as the major concerns that needed to be addressed before the next general election, with Standard reporting that over 50 per cent of Kenyans were disgruntled by the current state of the nation.
