Health Officers On High Alert Over Uninspected Donkey Meat In Nakuru

Nakuru Public Health officer, Samuel Kingori has said they are on high alert to curb sale of uninspected donkey meat to the public.

Kingori said they will be visiting all butcheries in the County to ensure there is no donkey meat in stock.

“We are on high alert to ensure there is no donkey meat being sold to unsuspecting public and that is why we are planning to visit all butcheries doing inspections,” he said.

Speaking to the media in Nakuru town Tuesday after carcasses of 16 slaughtered donkeys were discovered in Mai Mahiu, Kingori said the law will not be lenient to anyone who will be found selling uninspected meat.

The health officer called on residents of Nakuru County to avoid buying meat which is not inspected by the health department.

Several people who were caught with the donkey meat at Mai Mahiu were arrested n Monday
