Johannesburg – Six people were killed in two separate bus crashes in two provinces on Monday morning, officials said.

Three people were killed when a bus crashed on the notorious R573 Moloto Road, said Mpumalanga community safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi.

“A sedan collided into the back of a Putco bus… all the deceased were occupants in [the] sedan and they include a driver. It is still unclear as to what led to the crash,” said Mmusi.

In Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape, three people, including a father and son, were killed and six injured when a bus and a minibus taxi collided in the early hours of the morning, said Warrant Officer Gerda Swart.

Those injured were taxi passengers. The bus was not carrying passengers at the time of the accident.
