7 Kenya Defence Forces officers from Garissa died in the attack on a camp by Al Shabaab forces in Al Adde Somalia, Majority Leader in the Jubilee Coalition Aden Duale has said.
Duale says that the 7 were heroes and died defending the country and that he had personally reached out to the families of the deceased.
He however did not state his source of the information.
” 7 of my own people died in the attack. That is the price we have to pay for security,” the Garissa Town MP said Friday.
Details of the attack have been at best scanty.
Thus far, the government has yet to release an official account of those that died, the injured, the survivors as well as the number of soldiers who were at the camp.
It is estimated that there were as many as 240 soldiers at the camp at the time of the attack with several sources stating that as many as 100 soldiers died in the attack.
So far, 31 bodies have been returned to the country and it is not yet clear whether the 7 Duale is referring to are amongst the 31.
