Over 500 People Hospitalised In Mandera Following Chikungunya Outbreak

Over 500 people have been hospitalised in Mandera following an outbreak of chikungunya.

The disease is allegedly caused by mosquitoes and causes knees to bend.

According to The Star, at least 540 residents were hospitalised Wednesday after showing symptoms of the infection.

The common symptoms include fever, joint pain,  headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.

CDC observes that outbreaks of chikungunya have occurred in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
