Ghana’s music industry has had its fair share of outstanding female performers who have generated hit songs that fans continue to enjoy.
While some of these musicians have moved on to other projects, their music remains ageless.
Here are five Ghanaian female performers who have previously given us unforgettable hits:
Eazzy is a powerful afrobeat/hiphop artist noted for her high-energy concerts and dance abilities. She has a number of chart-topping singles, including “Bo Wonsem Ma Me,” “Wengeze,” and “One Gal.”
These songs garnered her numerous nominations for music prizes, demonstrating her talent and contribution to the Ghanaian music scene.
Raquel Raquel is a multi-talented artist who rose to prominence with her hit song “Sweetio,” which featured Sarkodie.
Her calming voice and distinct style left an indelible mark on the Ghanaian music scene, encouraging other female musicians.
3. Itz Tiffany
Tiffany Owusu, commonly known as Itz Tiffany, is an Afro-pop singer best known for songs such as “Fake London Boy” and “Last One.”
During the ‘Azonto’ era, her partnership with Fuse ODG drew a lot of notice. While she was away from music, she concentrated on her cosmetics shop.
Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey, better known as Kaakie, is a Ghanaian dancehall performer who introduced a new sound to the Ghanaian music scene. Her chart-topping singles include “Ewo,” “Give it to Me,” “Too Much,” “Body Flame” featuring Samini, and “DC Turn Up.”
Kaakie made history by becoming Africa’s first female reggae/dancehall award winner. She later abandoned music to pursue a nursing profession and motherhood.
5. RnM
RnM was discovered while watching the music reality show “Vodafone Icons.” Following their victory in the competition, they released their debut single “Simple Love,” which featured Ghanaian music trio 4X4. While their introduction into the music scene was received with enthusiasm, keeping momentum in the industry can be difficult, leading to their withdrawal from the scene while they pursue other life experiences.
These female musicians have made significant contributions to Ghana’s music culture, and their songs are still treasured by fans as a reminder of their talent and influence in the industry.
