1. He was born Stephen Okechukwu Chinedu Keshi.

4. He was married to Kate Keshi (nee Abureme) for 33 years.
5. His wife of 33 years, Kate died on December 9, 2015 after losing a long battle with cancer.
6. He was a Nigerian football defender and a former football manager of Nigeria, Togo and Mali.
7. He was one of only two people, along with Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary, to have won the Africa Cup of Nations as both a player and a coach.
8. He spoke French and English fluently.
9. In 2013 Keshi led Super Eagles Nigeria to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
10. He won the African Nations Cup in 1994 as a captain and as a coach in 2013 defeating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final.
11. He is the only coach to have taken the Togolese team to the World cup championship till date.
12. Keshi appeared 64 times in the Eagles colour and scored nine goals in total.
13. On 18 November 2013, Stephen keshi set a record in African football by being the first African coach to successfully qualify two African nations (Nigeria and Togo) to the World Cup Finals.
14. He also helped Nigeria become the first country to achieve an African Cup of Nations trophy and World Cup qualification, both in 2013.
15. Keshi won the Confederation of African Football, CAF, best coach of the year in 2013.
16. In 2014, he was ranked as the number one coach in Africa and 14th in the world.
17. Keshi died on 8th of June 2016 in Benin City, after suffering from a cardiac arrest. He was 54.
18. Keshi is survived by four children and his mother.
