At least 17 people died and scores others were injured when a bus and lorry collided at the junction of Mumbwa and Mwembeshi, west of the Zambia’s capital Lusaka on Saturday.
According to Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga, the accident occurred early Saturday when the driver of a truck tried to cut in front of a bus.
The dead included 13 men, three women and a baby, among them a bus conductor.
Mrs Munganga said the 17 were part of the 19 passengers on the Zambian bus which was on its was to the country’s capital Lusaka.
She said the driver of the truck is on the run and the police have launched a manhunt for him.
Investigations into the incident are on-going.
