Pretoria – Water supply has been fully restored in Tshwane following shortages in some parts of the city due to the high water demand caused by the heat wave.

Spokesperson Selby Bokaba said all affected areas now had water and the reservoirs were operating at full capacity.

“The water restrictions will remain in place until we are satisfied the situation has normalised. We hope by the end of the week things will be back to normal,” he said.

Bokaba said the heat wave had seen the water demand constantly increasing, thus resulted in the reservoirs across the city operating at low levels. He added another problem the city was encountering was the water supply from Rand Water.

“We have been encountering problems of low flows and low pressure from the Rand Water supply pipelines,” he added.

Rand Water spokesperson Justice Mohale said they were pumping water as normal, adding he was unaware of any problems.
