Waiguru To Be Investigated Over NYS Fraud, Tobiko Announces

Nairobi – Devolution CS Anne Waiguru will be investigated over fraud at the National Youth Service NYS, Director of Public Prosecutions DPP Keriako Tobiko has said.

Waiguru has been under the spotlight after revelations that KES 791 million had been fraudulently picked out of the organization.

She has stated her innocence over the matter.

But Tobiko says that under her jurisdiction as head of the Devolution docket which in essence means that she is in-charge of the NYS, she has to be investigated.

” The CS has not recorded a statement regarding this matter. It is important that the CS records a statement,” the DPP said Friday.

27 people were named in the scam who will be investigated by the DPP and Criminal Investigation Department over the matter but Waiguru’s name was not on the list.

Members of the opposition have severally called for Waiguru to step aside and allow investigations into the matter take place but she has refused.

The matter has led to several incidences where leaders of the opposition have termed Waiguru as being favoured by the office of the President.

State House has also come up to defend Waiguru over the matter stating that there is yet to be evidence showing she has been involved in any fraud.
