President Uhuru Kenyatta will spend one month working in Central Kenya, it has been revealed.
After spending a similar amount of time in Mombasa at the Coast in late December and January, the head of state is set to move his working tour to Central Kenya.
He will be based at the Sagana State lodge, it has emerged.’
” The President has stated that the remainder of his term will be spent with the people in the grassroots,” a source at State House told News24.
” He is keen to show the public that he is available and wants to see things moving and thus he will be in Central Kenya from February,” the source added.
The President had been criticized for spending a month at the Coast but State House hit back, saying it was his right to do so.
” He is the President and can work from anywhere he likes in the country,” Spokesman Manoah Esipisu said of the criticism.
While at Sagana, the President will get the chance to connect with leaders and the people in the Mt Kenya region where he commands alot of support.
Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua welcomed the news.
” The President is very welcome here to visit us and we will welcome him with open arms,” he said of the supposed visit.
With less than 2 years left of his current term, the President is keen to ensure he has support on the ground as he prepares for the 2017 battle for the top seat with CORD leader Raila Odinga.
